After Surgery

If you received sedation for your procedure, you will need to bring a responsible adult with you. You should also rest the remainder of the day. Although you may feel normal, your reflexes and mental ability may be impaired.

Do not consume alcohol, drive, operate machinery or make important personal or business decisions for 24 hours. The effects of sedation or anesthesia can last for more than 24 hours.

Follow your physician’s post-operative orders as directed.

Drink plenty of fluids and progress to your normal diet as tolerated unless otherwise instructed by your physician.

You may resume your regular medication schedule unless otherwise instructed by your physician.

Call us if you experience any of the following:
• Fever over 101 degrees
• Excessive pain or swelling
• Excessive drainage or bleeding
• Continued nausea or vomiting
• An unexpected reaction to medication
